Kay Poustie Scholarship
The Kay Poustie Scholarship has been established by the State Library of Western Australia Foundation to recognise Kay Poustie's immense contribution to the library profession throughout her career.
This scholarship takes the form of an International Study Grant and will enable WA-based librarians to visit libraries overseas to learn more about innovative library practices which can then be applied here in Western Australia. This scholarship therefore recognises Kay's commitment to, and belief in, an international perspective for the profession. Scholarship recipients will gain the global experience necessary for effective librarianship. .
Funds for the scholarship have been provided by generous donations to the Foundation and, through the scholarship, Kay's lifetime of dedicated service to the profession will be honoured and her legacy enrich future generations of librarians and library users.
To continue the scholarship each year, the Foundation is encouraging further donations to its In Memoriam campaign.

"If you can read this then you're one of the 54% of Australians who are prose literate. You're in the majority- but only just. Nearly half the population struggles without the literacy skills to meet the most basic demands of everyday life and work. There are 46% of Australians who can't read a newspaper; follow a recipe; make sense of timetables, or understand the instructions on a medicine bottle."
Reading is THE essential life skill, join the campaign to bring all forms of reading out into our communities. For more information go to www.love2read.org.au
